Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove the core from the cabbage and boil the whole head for about 5 minutes until leaves are soft.
  3. In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  4. In a bowl, mix ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Carefully peel off cabbage leaves. Place about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture on each leaf.
  6. Roll the leaf tightly and tuck in the ends.
  7. Place rolled cabbage in a baking dish seam side down.
  8. Pour tomato sauce over the rolls and drizzle with lemon juice.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.

  • You can use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Brown rice can replace white rice for more fiber.
