  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup vanilla custard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  7. Pour batter into two greased 9-inch round cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Meanwhile, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it just begins to simmer.
  11. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.
  12. Once the cakes are cool, spread a layer of custard on top of one cake layer.
  13. Place the second cake layer on top, then pour the chocolate ganache over the top.
  14. Let it set for a few minutes before serving.
