- 3–4 pounds brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 onions, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine (or additional broth for non-alcoholic)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and cook until soft.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Season the brisket with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Brown the brisket in the pot on all sides.
- Remove brisket and set aside.
- Pour in beef broth and red wine, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom.
- Add brown sugar and soy sauce, stirring to combine.
- Return the brisket to the pot, cover, and place in the oven.
- Cook for 3-4 hours, until tender.
- Let the brisket rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- You can substitute brisket with chuck roast for a different flavor.
- Use vegetable broth for a lighter option.
- Adjust seasoning according to your taste.
