Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
  8. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  9. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  10. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Let cool before cutting into bars.
