Ingredients

- 2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil.
- Shape the dough into pretzels and dip each one in the boiling water for 30 seconds.
- Place pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush with melted butter and mix sugar with cinnamon. Sprinkle on top.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Use whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
- Substitute margarine for butter if needed.
- Adjust cinnamon and sugar to your taste.
