Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  2. Remove the core from the cabbage and carefully peel off 12 large leaves.
  3. Blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until softened, then drain.
  4. In a bowl, mix ground beef, cooked rice, onion, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice.
  5. Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture on each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the ends.
  6. Place the rolls seam-side down in a baking dish.
  7. Pour tomato sauce over the rolls.
  8. Cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
