Description

A comforting and easy-to-make sloppy joe grilled cheese sandwich.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
  2. Drain excess fat and stir in ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. In another skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  4. Place two slices of bread in the skillet and add cheese on top.
  5. Add a generous amount of the sloppy joe mixture over the cheese.
  6. Top with the remaining cheese and slices of bread.
  7. Cook until the bottom is golden, then flip and cook until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from heat, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter option.
  • Try different types of cheese like cheddar or pepper jack for more flavor.
  • For a healthier version, use whole grain bread.
