Instructions

  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. Increase heat and bring to a boil without stirring. Cook until mixture reaches 250°F on a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and cream of tartar.
  5. Let cool for a few minutes, then pour mixture onto a greased countertop.
  6. Once it’s cool enough to handle, knead in the food coloring.
  7. Shape the mixture into small balls and flatten them into discs.
  8. Allow to harden for several hours.
